Students are invited to step into the role of a newspaper reporter and write a real-life story about a Hometown Hero! HOW IT WORKS:Any individual, teacher, school, or community organization can submit entries. Register Here for more details on your local contest, including where and how to submit your entries. Entries are reviewed on a local level and one winner from each grade level will be selected. Local winners will be entered in the National Contest, where they will compete for the Grand Prize. The Kid Scoop Healthy Hometown Heroes Contest is open to all students in grades 3-6. HOW TO ENTER:Participating students first interview someone in their community who promotes healthy living, fitness, or nutrition. They should find out what that person does, why they do it, how it helps others be healther, and any advice or message they might have for the people in their community. Participants then write a newspaper article about their "Healthy Hometown Hero"-- being sure to answer "Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How." Ideas for "Healthy Heroes" include P.E. teachers, chefs who specialize in healthy cuisine, local farmers, fitness or sports coaches, nutritionists...
